but if you neglect going out to shoot because of what you're missing out on then you won't capture anything at all.
I watched a video during the week and this line caught my attention.
The video centers around how location and setting can often make us feel going out to do photography is not worth the effort.
I’ve been there.
I live in a small town. Lots of churches, lots of liquor stores. Not a lot of opportunity for street photography though.
For a long time I had similar feelings. I’d get up in the morning, walk to work with my camera and as I looked through my photos for the week I got dejected. I wasn’t shooting what I saw on YouTube and IG.
I moved away from the mindset I had and today I’m a happier photographer.
But I want to focus on the latter part of the sentence:
you won't capture anything at all.
Whether you take photos, write newsletters, look for clients for your business or make videos on YouTube when you don’t take action you get no results.
Results is something different for each one of us. Perhaps you enjoy looking at stats. Or you’re selling prints or e-books. It might be for fun or the love or art. Regardless of the motivation the fact stands:
No action = No results.
I’m writing this on Saturday afternoon, just after one and I’m planning to go out tomorrow with my camera and my bicycle. I want to get photos of the small and quiet city where I live. I’m not going for the like my photos get. Or even for the photos.
I’m going because I like it. I like cycling and the freedom it makes me feel. And I enjoy taking photos because it’s how I express myself.
Regardless of your craft, professional or amateur - focus on the act of doing instead of the results. And even if you don’t feel like it on the day, just do it.
You’ll thank yourself later :)
Update
In other news I’m in the process of setting up a website. It will be a landing page for potential clients who want to have an overview of my work. Because I’m not able to use Stripe at the moment I will be implementing a Paystack online payment system on my website.
I can’t accept subscription type payments at the moment but I’ve you find my work worth the read you’ll have the option to support me.
I’ll flesh out the details as soon as everything is in place :)

In here I share the social media channels of artists I found while browsing the internet. Got any artists which inspire or interest you? Leave some feedback for us to check out.
Photographer
Eugene Slabbert
For this week's photographer I went digging into through my Instagram account.
I started following Eugene's account more than a year ago and his street photography is really impressive to me. His work has a lot of street portraits in them and I enjoy his black and white photos the most.
I enjoy looking at his photos because as I started out with my photography on the streets I always wanted to do this type of work.
Photographer & Cinematographer
Aaron Sambey
I found Aaron’s channel as part of my endeavor to curate my content and focus on smaller accounts rather than plugging the bigger accounts.
From the about page on his website
When I think about my earliest desire to create I don’t think of using a camera or writing a story. I don’t think about much except that I wanted to perform; to express myself in a tangible form. I think about all those times I prepared to give-it-my-all on the stage, whether it be in a play, a musical, or in a band. There’s something so endlessly powerful and addictive to being able to create something for yourself or for an audience.
Photos
Some of the photos I took this week. I don’t post these on other social channels and share them with my subscribers only.
